Notification of Marriage
Notification period
There is no limited notification period since the marriage is not valid until notification is submitted.
What to bring
- Marriage notification form.
- The parsonal stamps of both the husband and the wife.
- A copy of their family registry (when you do not have a family registry in Miki-Town)
- ID for both of you (e.g. driving license, passport)
Even when ID is not shown, your application can be accepted. However this will delay the acceptance of the application. – the applicant will be informed of acceptance at a later date.
Applicant
Both the husband and the wife
Notification can be made at
The municipal office of permanent domicile of the applicant or the area where the applicant is a resident.
Notification can be made
24-hours a day
Beyond regular counter hours and on days that the office is closed, notification is accepted by the night-duty staff.
Outside regular hours, only the notification of marriage can be accepted. To carry out other procedures related to the marriage (address changes, etc.), we request that you come to the office during the regular business hours.
Note
Husband and wife must both sign and stamp the marriage notification. It is therefore essential that they bring their personal stamps.
The notification form also requires the signatures and stamps of two witnesses (aged over 20) on it.
When the notifying person is under 20, his or her parents' prior consent is required.
